Why do I get the error message "Could not read CFI string QRY/PRI" when trying to program a CFI Flash with a .jam file?

Environment

    Quartus® II Subscription Edition
BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
Description

You may get this error when trying to program a CFI flash with a .jam file using quartus_jli in the Quartus® II software versions 11.0 and earlier.

Resolution

Use the Quartus II software version 11.0 SP1 and later to generate your .jam file.
