Does VCCBAT have to be connected to the voltage shown in the compilation report or the .pin file generated by the Quartus® II software?

Environment

  • Quartus® II Software
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT
    Description

VCCBAT is a dedicated power supply for volatile key storage of the design security feature.

When you compile a design targeting a device with VCCBAT, the Quartus® II software shows a specific voltage for VCCBAT in the compilation report and pin-out (.pin) file generated for your design.

For example, when you compile a design targeting a Stratix® V device, the Quartus II software shows 3.0V for VCCBAT in the compilation report and .pin file.  This is only one of the multiple supported voltages for VCCBAT.

Even if you do not use the volatile key (either you use the non-volatile key or you do not use the design security feature), VCCBAT is required to be connected to a specified voltage in some device families.

    Resolution

Ensure VCCBAT is connected to the correct power supply as specified in the respective device datasheet or the Pin Connection Guidelines.

    Additional information

The problem is that the VCCBAT shows only one value has been fixed in Quartus® II Software Version 14.0. There will be multiple options for users to choose from within the legal range.
