On the Arria® V SoC development kit, the default boot sequence involves the Hard Processor System (HPS) programming the FPGA and then booting Linux. You will see the LCD display "Hello Tim" once boot up completes after powering up the development kit. To configure the Arria V device with the user hardware 1 image from the CFI flash, you need to disable the default boot sequence.
To disable the default boot sequence, remove the SD-Card or change the BSEL jumpers before powering up the development kit.
After powering up the development kit, use the PGM_SEL (S13) push button to select the user hardware 1 image. Then press PGM_CONF (S12) push button to load the user hardware 1 image.
