Where does the recommended transient voltage percentage for each voltage rail in the Power Delivery Network (PDN) tool come from?

Description

The percentage of transient current is signal-pattern dependent. You are encouraged to use calculation, simulation and/or measurement to obtain your transient current (i.e dynamic current) values. The Quartus® II software PowerPlay Power Analyzer (PPPA) can be used to accurately estimate the transient current values when design specific activity test vectors are imported for analysis.

If none of these methods are routinely available, Altera recommends the values available in the Intro tab in each Device-Specific PDN tool for your design.

For more information, refer to the Device-Specific Power Delivery Network (PDN) Tool User Guide (PDF).
