Why does my Nios II fail to boot from QSPI flash in MAX 10 designs?

Environment

BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

Description

Due to a problem in the Quartus® II software version 15.1 and earlier, byteswap must be enabled on QSPI programming for Max® 10 Nios® II designs to allow booting from QSPI flash.

Resolution

To workaround this problem in the Quartus II software version 15.1 and earlier, please refer to Altera Application Note AN730 page 65/96 , "Software Programmer Object File(.pof) Generation" section.

This problem is scheduled to be fixed in a future version of the Quartus II software.
