Certain DisplayPort TX Designs May Not Produce Image When Operation in MST Mode

Environment

  • Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro Edition
  • BUILT IN - ARTICLE INTRO SECOND COMPONENT

    Critical Issue

    Description

When the DisplayPort TX core operates in Multi-Stream Transport (MST) mode and you program the TAVG_TSx bit at address 0x00aa to 0 (if the fraction of TARGET_Average_StreamSymbolPerMTP is 0), you may not see any image output.

This issue is caused by the DisplayPort IP core that erroneously inserts the Virtual Channel Payload Fill (VCPF) at every Multi-Stream Transport Packet (MTP). When the fraction of TARGET_Average_StreamSymbolPerMTP is 0, the VCPF should not be seen at any MTP.

This error causes the stream bandwidth to eventually exceed the link bandwidth.

    Resolution

There is no workaround for this issue.

This issue is fixed in version 16.1 of DisplayPort IP core.
