Error "TRIAL_LIMITATION: Unsupported configuration during active trial." Reported by the Intel® VROC CLI Utility

Content Type: Error Messages   |   Article ID: 000098899   |   Last Reviewed: 09/24/2024

Environment

Intel® VROC CLI for Windows*

Description

This error can occur when using a Standard or Premium Intel® VROC Hardware Key:

  • TRIAL_LIMITATION: Unsupported configuration during active trial.
  • Cannot create a volume. Cannot use NVMe* system disk in RAID1, RAID5 or RAID10 during active trial.

Resolution

If there is an error with the volume creation, it may be incorrectly reported as an error due to active trial, even though there is no active trial, and the correct key is installed.

Volume creation may fail if:

  1. There are not sufficient logical block addresses (LBA) at the end of the drive to add metadata.
  2. There is an error in the parameters given to the command line.

To avoid a volume creation failure:

  1. Ensure there is at least 5 MB of unallocated space at the end of each drive that will be a member of the array.
  2. Check the correct parameters for volume creation or management when entering the command into the command prompt. Examples can be found by running the command: intelvroccli --help
