Why Is the SATA Disk Read/Write Speed on My Intel® NUC Slow?

Description

The throughput of the read/write speeds are slower than they should be.

Resolution

When dealing with read/write speed issues, try the following:

  • Make sure the drive is compatible with the Intel® NUC based on the SATA specifications stated in the Technical Product Specifications for your NUC model.
  • Try another drive and check if the issue persists.
  • Test the same drive in another compatible system and check if the issue persists.
  • Try using a third party tool to measure the read/write speed of your drive.
  • Update your BIOS to the latest version. You can find the latest BIOS version for your Intel® NUC model in our Download Center.
  • Update the drive's firmware, by visiting the drive's manufacturer's website.
