Summary

Possible reasons for low graphics performance in SolidWorks*

Description

SolidWorks* freezes or run too slow, and possibly it was working properly before a system or a driver update.

Resolution

SolidWorks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program that runs on Windows® and requires a high performance graphics controller.

The application requires the graphics controllers available in Intel® Xeon® Processors only.

A list of compatible Intel® Graphics Controllers is available in the SolidWorks* website.

Additional information

If the system does not include an Intel® Xeon® Processor, a possible workaround would be updating the graphics driver to the latest version.  However, since only certain graphics controllers in Intel® Xeon® Processors are supported by the application developer, it cannot be guaranteed that a generic driver will fix any graphics or performance issue.

Intel recommends only to use the processors and graphics controllers tested by the SolidWorks* developers.
