Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management Application Error Messages with Memory System Acceleration or with a RAID Volume
Below is a list of error messages that may appear in the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application when using the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology (Intel® RST) 16.x drivers.
Note |
|
These error messages can be encountered while trying to enable system acceleration with Intel Optane memory
Error Message | What the error means and possible solutions |
You try to enable system acceleration and you see this: | With the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application, the Intel® Optane™ memory module can't contain any user data, not even GPT partition data. This module must be “cleaned” before enabling system acceleration, see below how to do this
Proceed to enable system acceleration in the application |
You try to enable system acceleration and you see this: | The Intel® Optane™ memory module may contain metadata from a previous installation. This metadata must be removed before the system can pair the module with another drive. Option 1
Proceed to enable system acceleration in the application |
These error messages can be encountered while trying to Create or Manage a RAID volume (not related to Intel® Optane™ memory)
Error Message | What the error means and possible solutions |
You try to create a RAID volume from within the Create Volume tab, and you see this: | With the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application, neither of the drives that are selected to be part of the RAID volume can contain any user data, not even GPT partition data. Any drives must be “cleaned” before the volume can be created, see below how to do this.
Proceed to create the RAID volume in the application. |
You try to delete a RAID volume from within the Manage tab, and you see this: | With the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application, neither of the drives that are part of a RAID volume that is selected to be deleted can contain any user data, not even GPT partition data. Any drives must be “cleaned” before the volume can be deleted see below how to do this.
Proceed to delete the RAID volume in the application. |
You try to mark a drive as a spare from within the Manage tab, and you see this: | With the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application, drives that are selected to be Marked as spare cannot contain any user data, not even GPT partition data. Any drives must be “cleaned” before they can be Marked as Spare, see below how to do this.
Proceed to Mark as spare any drives you wish. |
You try to add a drive to an Array from within the Manage tab, and you see this: | With the Intel® Optane™ Memory and Storage Management application, drives that are selected to be added to an Array can't contain any user data, not even GPT partition data. Any drives must be “cleaned” before they can be added, see below how to do this.
Proceed to make additions to the Array. |
