Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility (Windows® 10 1809 and Windows Server 2019)

  • Intel® PROSet for Windows* Device Manager isn't supported on Microsoft Windows® 10 Version 1809 (and later) and Microsoft* Windows Server* 2019 (and later). Use Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility instead. The installer will determine which utility to use based on the operating system version you're running.

Advanced Network Services (ANS), Teaming and VLAN configuration

  • Use Intel® PROSet for Windows PowerShell* Software's cmdlets for Team and VLAN configurations.
  • The initial version of the Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility doesn't include support for Advanced Network Services including Team and VLAN configurations. We plan to add this functionality to the Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility in a future release.
  • Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility has replaced Intel® PROSet for Windows* Device Manager on Windows* 10 1809 and Windows Server 2019 and later.
Note Prior to upgrading to Windows® 10 1809 or Windows Server 2019, uninstall the Intel PROSet feature, perform the OS upgrade, and then reinstall with the latest version of Intel® PROSet Adapter Configuration Utility. This will ensure all features are available and avoid potential issues.

Universal Windows Driver (UWD) - Details

  • With SW Release 23.5, UWDs are included in the driver download packages available on Download Center for Microsoft Windows® 10 1809 and Windows Server 2019.
  • The download & installation procedure for Intel Ethernet drivers doesn't change with the release of Universal Windows Drivers (UWD).
    • The installation of UWD is based on the version of your Operating system. Windows® 10 1809 & Windows* Server 2019 (and later) will only install Universal Windows Drivers for Ethernet. For example, if the installed Operating System is Windows® 10 1809 or later, when you execute the downloaded driver package the Universal Windows Drivers will automatically be installed. Older versions of Windows will automatically install the legacy drivers.
  • Upgrading from Intel Ethernet legacy drivers to the Intel Ethernet Universal Windows Drivers is supported.
  • Installing Ethernet legacy drivers manually on a Windows® 10 1809 or Windows* Server 2019, may cause the Ethernet adapter to not function properly and you'll have created an unsupported environment.
    • If you use the downloaded driver package, drivers are installed based on the version of Windows you're running. For example, Windows® 10 1809 will only install Universal Windows Drivers.
  • Downgrade from a Universal Windows Driver to a "Legacy" driver.
    • Downgrading requires a complete uninstall of the Universal Windows Driver, after which the Legacy Driver can be installed.
    • However, if you're running Windows® 10 1809 or Windows* Server 2019, all Ethernet drivers installed on this version of Windows are Universal Windows Drivers. Legacy drivers aren't available or supported on Windows® 10 1809 and Windows Server 2019 (and later).
