Description

Server reboots when an external USB hard drive is connected to the rear ports.
Issue does not happen if it is connected to the front USB ports.

Resolution

There are two ways to resolve the issue:

  1. Connect an external hard drive with an AC adapter.
  2. Install a PCIe USB 3.0 card to connect a hard drive without AC adapter.

Additional information

There are design differences in rear and front panel USB.
It must have reached trip current and triggered OCP (over current protection) causing the system to reboot.
