If you are using Windows XP*, the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology driver must be loaded during the operating system installation using the F6 installation method. This step is required in order to install an operating system onto a hard drive or RAID volume, when in RAID mode, or onto a hard drive when in AHCI mode. By default, Windows XP Setup assumes you are using a floppy diskette.
Some Intel® Desktop Boards do not include a floppy drive connector. If you have one of these boards, use one of the following options to load the driver:
- An external USB floppy drive.
