RAID Card Not Detected for Intel® Server Systems
What am I seeing?
If the RAID card is installed in Riser 2, or in the bottom slot of Riser 1, with only one CPU is installed, the following can happen:
- An Intel® RAID Controller might not be detected correctly.
- The system can report adapter not found.
Is there anything I should do before trying the fixes below?
Ensure the board card combination is a compatible one.
Refer to:

Use the top slot of Riser 1 for controllers or adapters.
How to fix it on single-socket boards
Try clearing the event log, loading the BIOS default settings, and restarting the system.
Generally, see to it that the Quiet Boot in BIOS, under the Main Menu, is set to Disabled. If Enabled, you may not see the POST prompt message to enter the RAID Card BIOS.
Also, consider clearing the Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) as follows:
- Shut the system down.
- Unplug the power cords.
- Open up the chassis lid. Locate and remove the Real Time Clock (RTC battery) and leave it out for at least 2 minutes.
- After this time, insert the battery back in, plug the power cords, close the chassis cover, and POST the system.
The RAID card should be detected already. If necessary, go into the BIOS Setup Utility and reset any customized BIOS settings again.
