What's wrong?
Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant* reports Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver version 1.0.5.235 or earlier, is not compatible.

What should I do?
Uninstall Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver before installing Windows* 8 upgrade.

Steps to uninstall Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver:

  1. Click the Start button.

  2. Select the Control Panel in the menu item.

  3. The Control Panel window opens.

  4. Click Programs.

  5. Select the Intel® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver on the list of programs.

    Click Uninstall.

Note
  • The Windows* 7 system with Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver 1.0.6.245 does not have this issue.
  • Windows 8 has a native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller driver for Windows 8.
