Wireless LAN (WiFi) and Bluetooth* Module
The wireless LAN (WiFi) and Bluetooth* module, included with certain Intel® Desktop Boards, allows you to connect to wireless networks and Bluetooth devices.
The module is an MSI MS-3871 WLAN 802.11b/g/n 1T1R+BT2.1 EDR Combo Slim Module. It is a USB 2.0-based device and connects to a USB header on the board.

Wi-Fi features:
- Compatible with IEEE 802.11n. Specifications provides wireless speed up to 150 Mbps receive and 150 Mbps transmit data rate
- Backward compatible with IEEE 802.11g high rate standard to provide wireless Ethernet speeds of 54 Mbps data rate

Installing the Module in a Desktop Chassis
The recommended installation procedure for a typical desktop chassis is as follows:
- Make sure that the system is turned off and disconnected from its power source.
- Remove the plastic cover from an empty 5-1/4 inch drive bay in the chassis bezel (A). If the drive bay cover is metal, coverage range may be limited.
- Remove the metal filler plate from the internal drive bay (B).
- Remove the paper backing covering the adhesive on the back of the WiFi/Bluetooth Module and attach the module to the back side of the plastic drive bay cover (C).
- Connect one end of the USB cable to the connector on the front of the module (D).
- Reinstall the plastic drive bay cover in the chassis bezel while routing the USB cable into the chassis through the empty drive bay (E).
- Connect the free end of the USB cable to an unused front panel USB header on the Desktop Board (F).
Installing Drivers
The latest wireless LAN (WiFi) and Bluetooth* drivers are available (separately) on Download Center. After installing the drivers, Device Manager will show the following entries:
Connect to a WiFi Network
To connect your PC to a wireless network:
- Click the Network Connection icon on the Windows* taskbar.
- Click an available network and then click the Connect button. If the wireless network is secured, you will be prompted to enter the SSID and network password.
- Follow all prompts in the connection wizard.
Using Bluetooth*
Bluetooth* allows you to do any of the following:
- Use a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, gamepad or printer to eliminate cables.
- Transfer files between your PC and Bluetooth devices, such as cell phones or PDAs.
- Listen to music from your PC over Bluetooth stereo headphones.
- Make a Voice-over-IP (VOIP) phone call over a Bluetooth headset.
My Bluetooth (Manager)
To open the Bluetooth manager, right-click the Bluetooth icon on the status bar:

The Bluetooth manager features include:
- Search for Devices – refreshes the list of nearby Bluetooth devices (can also use F5).
- Bluetooth Neighborhood – view connected and paired devices.
- My Bluetooth Settings – view or change Bluetooth settings of the computer.
- My Received Files – open folder containing files received via Bluetooth.
Pressing F1 when in the Bluetooth manager screen opens the Bluetooth manual for details on all of the features.
