Intel® Data Center Manager
A look into developing sustainability in data centers.
Intel® Data Center Manager
Intel® Data Center Manager is a building block for developing sustainability in data centers. It’s a straightforward tool for measuring, modeling and controlling the operational carbon footprint of the data centers. Intel® DCM also enables IT and facility managers with the tools to improve manageability, increase availability, and reduce TCO of the data center.
Data Center Sustainability
A data center’s carbon footprint is comprised of embodied and operational carbon emissions. Embodied carbon emissions are associated with construction and set up of a data center, while operational carbon emissions are associated with running the data center. Most of a data center’s carbon emissions are operational, which is why Intel® DCM 5.0 introduces brand new features that aid data center managers and IT operators in achieving and improving their sustainability and efficiency objectives
New Sustainability Features
Measure Carbon Emissions Over Time
Intel DCM can calculate the carbon emissions on the node, group, rack, row, room, data center, and workload levels.
Model Carbon Emissions and Set Limits and Alerts
Intel DCM can project carbon emissions and trigger alerts based on user-defined thresholds
Control Carbon Emissions Without Application Reconfiguration
Intel DCM can automatically reduce server power consumption to stay within carbon emission limits without any OS or application reconfiguration
