Due to a conflict with the ByteBlaster driver, the Stand by feature of Windows XP may be disabled after installing the Quartus® II software versions 10.0 or 10.0 SP1 and the ByteBlaster driver. Also, settings related to the Stand by feature may be missing from the Advanced tab of the Power Options Properties dialog box available from the Control Panel.
The ByteBlaster driver is not automatically installed during the Quartus II software installation. If ByteBlasterMV or ByteBlaster II support is needed, install the ByteBlaster, but be aware that this may disable the Stand by feature of Windows XP.
To work around this problem and re-enable the Stand by feature in Windows XP by disabling the ByteBlaster driver, perform the following steps:
- Open the Device Manager in Windows XP
- Select Show Hidden Devices on the View menu
- Expand the Non-Plug and Play Drivers list
- Right-click on Altera ByteBlaster and select Disable from the pop-up menu
- Reboot your computer
This problem is fixed beginning with the Quartus II software version 10.1.
