How do I reset the windows in my Quartus II desktop to the default settings?

Description

The Quartus® II software includes a feature to restore the default settings for the entire desktop by removing all changes you have made to the desktop. This can be used if you have accidentally lost a dockable window by moving it outside the viewable screen area.

To remove all changes you have made to dockable windows and restore the default settings to the rest of the desktop, perform one of the following sets of directions.

Through the menu options in the Quartus II Graphical User Interface (GUI):

  1. Choose Tools and then select Toolbars.
  2. Click the Toolbars tab.
  3. Click Reset All.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Exit and restart the Quartus II software to see the restoration of the default settings.

Using a Windows Command (DOS) Prompt:

  1. Close the Quartus II software.
  2. Open a Windows command prompt or DOS window (Start -> Programs -> Command Prompt).
  3. At a command prompt, change directory (using the cd command) to the Quartus installation directory/bin.
  4. Type the following: quartus -reset_desktop
  5. Open the Quartus II software to see the restoration of the default settings.
