Possible Calibration Failure on Arria 10 10AX115 or 10AX066, ES or ES2 Devices

    Critical Issue

    Description

This problem affects Arria 10 EMIF products.

If you are implementing an external memory interface on an Arria 10 10AX115 or 10AX066, ES or ES2 device, you might encounter EMIF calibration failure immediately after configuring the device. The failure occurs only after initial configuration of the device and the default state of the EMIF reset input signal is not asserted. Subsequent resets to the EMIF subsystem do not exhibit calibration failure.

    Resolution

The workaround for this issue is to ensure that the reset input to the EMIF instances within a design is held in reset for up to ~200ms after the device is initially configured. After this reset time has elapsed, the EMIF reset input may be deasserted and calibration will proceed normally. Subsequent resets do not require this reset interval provided that the device is not reconfigured.

This issue will be fixed in a future version.
