Why do I observe Avalon-ST reconfiguration failure when I upgrade the Intel® Stratix® 10 device configuration bitstream with a newer Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro software version?

Description

If you reconfigure an Intel® Stratix® 10 device with a configuration bitstream generated by a different or newer Intel® Quartus® Prime Pro software version, and if there is data corruption in the first 256kB of the bitstream, the reconfiguration will fail. In addition, there is a small chance that a subsequent reconfiguration with a good bitstream will not be successful.

This issue impacts AVSTx8, x16 and x32 configuration schemes.

Workaround/Fix

Reconfigure the Intel Stratix 10 device with JTAG configuration. If JTAG configuration cannot be used, then power cycle the device and configure the Intel Stratix 10 device with a known good bitstream.

This issue is scheduled be fixed in a future version of the Intel Quartus Prime Pro software.
