MAX+PLUS II Version 9.12 Update Installation Instructions

Warning

All MAX+PLUS II software (including MAX+PLUS® II BASELINE Edition Version 10.2 & Student Edition Version 10.2, and MAX+PLUS II Software Updates versions 10.23 through 8.21) will no longer be available after 3/12/2021. MAX+PLUS II software does not include the latest functional and security updates and will not be supported. All versions are provided as is. Intel recommends that users of MAX+PLUS II software uninstall and discontinue use as soon as possible. Users should upgrade to the latest available software version for their device and follow the technical recommendations to help improve security.

PC Instructions

  1. Make sure that MAX+PLUS II version 9.1 or 9.11 is installed; the update files are not compatible with any other MAX+PLUS II version.

  2. Make sure that the MAX+PLUS II software is not running.

  3. Begin installation by executing the 912_pc.exe file, i.e., type the following command at a DOS or command prompt:

    <drive letter><path>912_pc Enter

    or

    Double-click the file name in the Windows Explorer (Windows 95/98) or Windows NT Explorer (Windows NT 4.0).

  4. The WinZip Self-Extractor [912_PC.EXE] dialog box appears. By default, the WinZip software extracts the files into the directory c:\maxplus2. If your version of MAX+PLUS II software is located in a different directory, type the directory name in the Unzip to Folder field. Click the Unzip button to unzip the files. The update files replace the previous version of the files in the MAX+PLUS II system directory.

  5. Click OK when you are informed that the files have been unzipped successfully, and click the Close button to close the WinZip Self-Extractor [912_PC.EXE] dialog box.

UNIX Instructions

  1. Make sure that MAX+PLUS II version 9.1 or 9.11 is installed; the update files are not compatible with any other MAX+PLUS II version.

  2. Make sure that the MAX+PLUS II software is not running.

  3. Move the 912_common.tar.Z file you downloaded to the maxplus2/common subdirectory.

  4. At a UNIX prompt, change your current directory to the maxplus2/common subdirectory and type the following commands:

    uncompress 912_common.tar.Z Enter
    tar xvf 912_common.tar Enter

    The update files replace the previous versions of the files in the maxplus2/common subdirectory.

  5. Move the platform-specific file(s) you downloaded to the subdirectory appropriate for your platform. Change to the subdirectory for your platform. The following table lists the subdirectories for each platform:

  6. At a UNIX prompt, change your current directory to the directory in which you saved the update file, and type the following commands:

    uncompress 912_<platform>.tar.Z Enter
    tar xvf 912_<platform>.tar Enter

    For example:

    uncompress 912_solaris.tar.Z Enter
    tar xvf 912_solaris.tar Enter

    The update files replace the previous versions of the files in the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory.

  7. While still in the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory, create five symbolic links by typing the following commands:

    ln -s ../common/a7032044.daf a7032044.daf Enter
    ln -s ../common/a7032044.pcf a7032044.pcf Enter
    ln -s ../common/m7032a04.dmf m7032a04.dmf Enter
    ln -s ../common/m7064a04.dmf m7064a04.dmf Enter
    ln -s ../common/m7032s05.dmf m7032s05.dmf
