  2. Make sure that the MAX+PLUS II software is not running.

  3. Begin installation by executing the 903_pc.exe file, i.e., type the following command at a DOS or command prompt:

    <drive letter><path>903_pc Enter

    or

Double-click the file name in the Windows Explorer (Windows 95/98) or Windows NT Explorer (Windows NT 4.0).

  4. The WinZip Self-Extractor [903_pc.exe] dialog box appears (see the figure below). By default, the WinZip software extracts the files into the directory c:\maxplus2. If your version of MAX+PLUS II software is located in a different directory, type the directory name in the Unzip to Folder field. Click the Unzip button to unzip the files. The update files replace the previous version of the files in the MAX+PLUS II system directory.

UNIX Instructions

  1. Make sure that MAX+PLUS II version 9.01 or 9.02 is installed; the update files are not compatible with any other MAX+PLUS II version.

  2. Make sure that the MAX+PLUS II software is not running.

  3. Move the platform-specific file you downloaded into a temporary directory; you can delete the file when you are finished installing the update.

  4. At a UNIX prompt, change your current directory to the directory in which you saved the update file, and type the following commands:

    uncompress 903_<platform>.tar.Z Enter
    tar xvf 903_<platform>.tar Enter

    For example:

    uncompress 903_solaris.tar.Z Enter
    tar xvf 903_solaris.tar Enter

After you type these commands, you should have two directories of files (/common and /<platform>) and the tape archive file (which you can delete).

  5. Copy the update files from the /common directory to the /maxplus2/common directory. The update files replace the previous versions of the files in the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory. For example:

    cp /903_tmp/common/* /usr/maxplus2/common Enter

  6. Copy the update files from the /<platform> directory to the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory for your platform. The update files replace the previous versions of the files. For example:

    cp /903_tmp/solaris/* /usr/maxplus2/solaris Enter

The following table lists the directories for each platform:

    Directory Platform
    maxplus2/solarisSolaris workstations
    maxplus2/sunosSunOS workstations
