MAX+PLUS II version 8.21 Upgrade Installation Instructions

Warning

All MAX+PLUS II software (including MAX+PLUS® II BASELINE Edition Version 10.2 & Student Edition Version 10.2, and MAX+PLUS II Software Updates versions 10.23 through 8.21) will no longer be available after 3/12/2021. MAX+PLUS II software does not include the latest functional and security updates and will not be supported. All versions are provided as is. Intel recommends that users of MAX+PLUS II software uninstall and discontinue use as soon as possible. Users should upgrade to the latest available software version for their device and follow the technical recommendations to help improve security.

PC Instructions

  1. Make sure that MAX+PLUS® II version 8.2 is installed -- the update files are not compatible with any other MAX+PLUS II version.
  2. Make sure that the MAX+PLUS II software is not running.
  3. Save the 8_21.exe file into your MAX+PLUS II directory (typically c:\maxplus2).
  4. At a DOS or command prompt, change your current directory to your MAX+PLUS II directory, and type the following command:

    8_21 -o Enter

    The update files replaces the previous version of the files in the MAX+PLUS II system directory.

    UNIX Instructions

    1. Make sure that MAX+PLUS II version 8.2 is installed -- the update files are not compatible with any other MAX+PLUS II version.
    2. Make sure that MAX+PLUS II is not running.
    3. Save the 8_21_solaris.tar.Z file into the maxplus2/solaris subdirectory.
    4. At a UNIX prompt, change your current directory to the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory for your platform, and type the following commands:
      uncompress 8_21_solaris.tar.Z Enter
      tar xvf 8_21_solaris.tar Enter
    5. Save the 8_21_common.tar file listed into the maxplus2/common subdirectory.
    6. At a UNIX prompt, change your current directory to the MAX+PLUS II subdirectory for your platform, and type the following commands:
      tar xvf 8_21_common.tar Enter

      The update files replace the previous versions of the files in the appropriate MAX+PLUS II subdirectory.
