Signals Pane

  • Signal table— Allows you to view the properties of signals in the component's top-level module, assign the signals to one or more interfaces, and define the signal type as follows:
  • Name— Displays the name of the top-level signal specified in the HDL Files tab, or any new signal you may specify.
  • Interface— Selects a port name to apply to the signal.
  • Signal Type— Selects signal types for ports. You must assign each signal to a port and specify its signal type. Setting the signal type as export in the Signal Type column indicates that the signal connects outside the immediate module and is available for use in other Platform Designer systems or on the PCB..
Note: Incorrect signal type settings cause the Signal Type setting to appear in red. Incorrect settings may include signal types that do not exist for port types, signal widths that do not match legal widths for the signal type, or signal widths that do not match a legal direction for a signal type.
  • Width— Specifies width settings to match HDL file definitions. If you did not specify an HDL file, then you must specify a width setting for each signal.
  • Direction— Specifies direction settings to match HDL file definitions. If you did not specify an HDL file, you must specify a direction setting for each signal. The setting in the Direction column is from the perspective of the Platform Designer component.
  • Add Signal— Allows you to add signals, if you did not specify an HDL file in the HDL Files tab.
  • Remove Signal— Allows you to remove signals, if you did not specify an HDL file in the HDL Files tab.
