Memory Editor Page (Options Dialog Box)

You open this page by clicking Memory Editor in the Options dialog box when you have a Memory Initialization File (.mif) or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) open in Intel® Quartus® Prime software.

Allows you to set options for default file size, specify Simulator breakpoint and memory information options, and read or write Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File (.hex) Definition with byte addressing.

Default file size

Allows you to specify the following default options for each new Memory Initialization File (.mif) Definition or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File:

  • Number of words— The default number of memory words for each new Memory Initialization File or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File.
  • Word size— The default size of the memory words for each new Memory Initialization File or Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File.

Read or write Hexadecimal File (.hex) using byte addressing (Intel-Format)

When turned on, directs the Intel® Quartus® Prime software to read or write the Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File in Intel format using byte addressing. When turned off, directs the Intel® Quartus® Prime software to read or write the Hexadecimal (Intel-Format) File with word size addressing. You can also direct Intel® Quartus® Prime to apply this setting to only the current project with settings in the More Compilation Process Settings dialog box.

Automatically open as a detached window

When turned on, the Memory Editor automatically opens as a detached window.
