Add Hardware Dialog Box

You open this dialog box by clicking Add Hardware in the Hardware Settings tab of the Hardware Setup dialog box.

Allows you to add new programming hardware to the list that the Intel® Quartus® Prime software recognizes.

USB devices do not appear in the Add Hardware dialog box, because the Intel® Quartus® Prime software automatically detects and adds USB devices to the Hardware list in the Hardware Setup dialog box when you plug them into a USB port on your computer.

You can also specify the hardware type and its port and baud rate settings, or server name and server password settings, if applicable.

Hardware type:

Specifies the current programming hardware. The possible options are:
  • Intel® FPGA Ethernet Cable
  • ByteBlasterMV,
  • Intel® FPGA Parallel Port Cable

Port:

Specifies the port to which the programming hardware selected in the Hardware Type list is attached.

Note: If the programming hardware driver for the selected programming hardware is not installed, the Port list displays Kernel mode driver not installed.

Server Name:

Specifies the name of the server you want to use to transfer programming data to a device via the Intel® FPGA Ethernet Cable.

Note: This option is unavailable when you select ByteBlasterMV or Intel® FPGA Parallel Port Cable from the Hardware Type list.

Server Port:

Displays the TCP port used when connecting to the server you want to use to transfer programming data to a device via the Intel® FPGA Ethernet Cable.

Server Password:

Specifies the password for the server you want to use to transfer programming data to a device via the Intel® FPGA Ethernet Cable.

Note: This option is unavailable when you select ByteBlasterMV or Intel® FPGA Parallel Port Cable from the Hardware Type list.

Auto Detect:

Detects servers with Intel® FPGA Ethernet Cables that are available on the local subnet of a network. Available servers are listed in the Server name list.
Note: This option is unavailable when you select ByteBlasterMV or Intel® FPGA Parallel Port Cable from the Hardware Type list.
