Update assignments to disk during design processing only (recommended to speed up Intel Quartus Prime user interface):

If you turn this option on, the Intel® Quartus® Prime software updates the Intel® Quartus® PrimeIntel Quartus Prime Settings File (.qsf) Definition only when you perform a processing task, for example, when you start a full compilation. Turning this option on accelerates the Intel® Quartus® Prime user interface by minimizing the occurrences of writing to the Intel® Quartus® Prime Settings File. This option is turned on by default.

If you turn this option off, the Intel® Quartus® Prime software updates the Intel® Quartus® Prime Settings File whenever you make assignment changes in a window or dialog box that causes a change to the Intel® Quartus® Prime Settings File, which can cause delays.

Additionally, the Intel® Quartus® Prime software always updates the Quartus Settings File if you perform any of the following tasks, regardless of whether you turn this option on or off:

  • Close the Assignment Editor.
  • Save changes in the Assignment Editor.
  • Launch the IP Catalog.
  • Change the active revision.
  • Close the current project.
