Operating Settings and Conditions Page (Settings Dialog Box)

You open this page by clicking Operating Settings and Conditions in the Settings dialog box. You must select a specific device in the Device dialog box.

Allows you to specify operating settings and conditions for the PowerPlay Power Analyzer. Allows you to specify device power characteristics for the PowerPlay Power Analyzer to assume when performing power and timing analysis. The following choices are available:

  • Typical— Assumes power characteristics of a typical device.
  • Maximum— Assumes power characteristics of a worst-case device.
Scripting Information

Keyword: power_use_device_characteristics

Settings: typical | maximum

Important: Power analyses performed with the Device power characteristics option set to Typical are based on the average power consumed by typical silicon at nominal operating conditions. For FPGA board power supply design, set the Device power characteristics option to Maximum to obtain worst-case values.
Note:

The Device power characteristics setting affects PowerPlay Power Analysis only. Timing analysis always assumes the power characteristics of a worst-case device.
