The Intel Scalable Switch (soft) IP for PCI Express is a fully configurable switch that implements one fully configurable upstream port and connectivity for up to 32 downstream ports which can be discrete (outside FPGA) or embedded (within FPGA fabric) with associated endpoints. Hot Plug capability is supported for the downstream ports. The Intel Scalable Switch IP uses the Intel P-Tile PCI Express hard IP’s in TL Bypass mode for upstream and downsteam connections. This allows for an optimized resource usage implementation. The ability to configure embedded downstream ports allows for more downstream ports (up to 32) than the PCIe physical links provisioned on any FPGA device. The Intel Scalable Switch IP implements the upstream and downstream port configuration spaces and associated logic to route packets between the different ports.
