Extend ACAT to Other Languages
- From GitHub, download ACATResources.en.resx.
- Use a resource editor to translate strings.
Tip SimpleResx works well. It has built-in support to translate strings into several languages. - Generate the resource .RESX file in the target language.
- Identify the source material to create the word prediction database. The source must be free of copyrighted material or other violations.
- Send an email with the following information to the team:
a. The translated resource .RESX file
b. A link to the source material for the word prediction database - The ACAT team then does the following:
a. Generates the word-prediction database for the target language
b. Creates the ACAT language pack for the target language, and then uploads it to GitHub
Notes
- ACAT doesn’t include Stephen Hawking's voice for text-to-speech. It uses the Microsoft* Speech Synthesis API and the default text-to-speech (TTS) voice on the target machine. To change the default voice, see the ACAT FAQ or ACAT User Guide.
- Developers can extend ACAT to support other speech engines.
- The UI look and feel is different from what Stephen Hawking used. Developers can create UIs to support the needs of different users.
- ACAT Vision is not an open source product.
