AI on the PC
Advances in AI-focused hardware and software enable AI on the PC. Seamlessly transition projects from early AI development on the PC
to cloud-based training to edge deployment. Learn what is required of AI workloads and what is available to get started today.
AI Hardware
GPUs have become popular in AI because they efficiently parallelize data-intensive computational tasks such as deep learning training. CPUs also perform well on AI and machine learning tasks that require sequential data, complex branching, or low-latency inference.
For AI development and deployment, suitable laptops or desktops combine multiple CPUs, GPUs, and specialized AI engines. They also include high-bandwidth memory and storage to process large datasets efficiently.
Intel® AI Analytics Toolkit (AI Kit)
To run efficiently with heterogeneous processing engines, software needs to be able to take advantage of the hardware architectures and instruction sets. The AI Kit provides optimized versions of popular AI tools and frameworks, such as TensorFlow*, PyTorch*, scikit-learn*, XGBoost, and Modin*. These are powered by oneAPI libraries, which optimize for CPUs, GPUs, or both. The AI Kit allows you to use your existing code and framework to develop AI on the PC and seamlessly migrate to the cloud.
Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ Toolkit
The toolkit is targeted at developers who need hardware customization options and support for multiple operating systems. Accelerate development of high-performance computer vision and deep learning inference into vision applications. Enable deep learning on hardware accelerators and flexible deployment across multiple types of Intel® platforms (CPUs, GPUs with Intel® Processor Graphics, and VPUs). This distribution includes the Intel® Deep Learning Deployment Toolkit with a model optimizer and inference engine.
Systems Optimized for AI on the PC
For laptops or desktops configured for AI development, Intel has collaborated with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) that offer Intel®-based data science workstations. These systems combine Intel® Xeon® CPUs, GPUs, high-bandwidth memory, large storage capacities, and AI Kit software to accelerate end-to-end AI and pipelines on the PC.
