Run Intel® OSPRay Studio

Intel® OSPRay Studio is a showcase application included in the
Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit
. It is an interactive and extendable ray-tracing application. This walkthrough demonstrates how to run the Intel OSPRay Studio application.
  • Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit
    Render Kit
    ) with Intel OSPRay Studio. By default, the
    Render Kit
    is installed to
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI
    directory. Replace
    with the default or your custom installation path.

Run Intel OSPRay Studio
  1. From the
    menu, type
    and press
    to open a new command prompt window.
  2. Go to a writable directory and create a folder to save the sample application results to.
    For example, create the
    mkdir rk_gsg
    cd rk_gsg
  3. Set Intel® oneAPI Toolkits environment variables:
    call "<install-dir>\setvars.bat"
    is the directory where you installed the
    Intel® oneAPI Rendering Toolkit
    . By default, it is
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\oneAPI\
    This script checks that Render Kit programs and pre-compiled library
    files are available for samples launched within the command shell session. You can also set up the
    Render Kit
    environment variables per component from a command prompt as follows:
    path <install-dir>\ospray\latest\bin;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\ospray_studio\latest\bin;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\embree\latest\bin;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\tbb\latest\redist\intel64\vc_mt;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\openvkl\latest\bin;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\oidn\latest\bin;%PATH%
    path <install-dir>\rkcommon\latest\bin;%PATH%
  4. Run Intel OSPRay Studio:
    You should see an interactive rendering window:

  5. In the rendering window, go to
    Demo Scene
    and select one of the predefined demo scenes.

    Some scenes demonstrate Intel® Open Volume Kernel Library integration capability.
  6. Review the selected scene. For example, the Multilevel Hierarchy demo looks as follows:

    You can control the scene view with a mouse as follows:
    • Right-click to move the camera in and out from the look-at point.
    • Left-click to rotate.
    • Scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
    • Drag and drop to move the camera.
    You can also use the following keyboard controls:
    • UP
      : Move the camera along the Z axis (in and out).
    • ALT+UP
      : Move the camera along the Y axis (up or down).
    • LEFT
      : Move the camera to the left along the X axis.
    • RIGHT
      : Move the camera to the right along the X axis.
    • W
      : Change camera elevation.
    • ALT+S
      : Save a frame as a file to a local directory.
    • A
      : Change camera azimuth.
    • ALT+A
      : Change camera roll.
    • G
      : Show/Hide the user interface.
    • Q
      : Quit the application.
    • P
      : Print a scene graph to the shell.
    • M
      : Print a material registry to the shell.
    • B
      : Print frame bounds.
    • V
      : Print camera parameters to the shell.
    • =
      : Push a location to save camera parameters.
    • -
      : Pop a location to save camera parameters.
    • 0-9
      : Set a camera snapshot.
    • Hold

      : Keep axis constrained for camera movement.
  7. You can save output image from
    in a preferred image format. The image is saved to the working
    directory as

  8. You can review the saved screenshot with your preferred image viewer.
