View and Analyze Key Performance Indicators

Reference implementation performance is a new feature under development, available in preview mode.

Step 1: Go to Optimize > Reference Implementation Performance

  1. Click on
    Optimize
in the top menu and select
    Reference Implementation Performance
    .
If the platform is not supported for this feature,
    Intel® Edge Software Configurator
displays a message as shown below.
  2. Click on
    View list of supported platforms
    to check the supported platforms.
This feature is currently only supported for the Intelligent Traffic Management (ITM) reference implementation. If you are using a supported platform but the reference implementation is not ITM, then the notification message shown below is displayed.
  3. Click on
    Back to home
    .
Follow the steps in Add Edge Software Packages to install the ITM package. When this is completed, you will see the following screen.

Step 2: Get Performance Projections without Inference Frames per Second (IPS) enabled

  1. Navigate to
    Reference Implementation Performance
    and click on
    Proceed
    .
  2. Click on
    Get Performance Projections.
  3. Select the target platforms and duration for running the reference implementation by adjusting the sliding bar as shown. The default duration for running reference implementation is 5 minutes. Click on
    View Performance Projections
    .
By default, system IPS will be taken for analyzing.
In the next screen, you will see the
    Analyzing Reference Implementation
window and the remaining time to show the performance projections.
  4. Even if you click on
    Close
, the analysis will run in the background and the
    Proceed
button is disabled until it is completed.
  5. You can navigate back to this window and click on
    View Performance Projections
    to view the results.
Once analyzing is completed, you will see the window below with performance projections along with end-to-end frames.
  6. Click on
    Done
    to exit.

Step 3: Get Performance Projections with Inference Frames per Second (IPS) enabled

  1. Navigate to
    Reference Implementation Performance
    and click on
    Proceed
    .
  2. Click on
    Get Performance Projections.
  3. Select the target platforms, enable
    Set Inference Frames per second
, and set the duration for running the reference implementation by adjusting the sliding bar as shown. The default duration for running reference implementation is 5 minutes. Click on
    View Performance Projections
    .
In the next screen, you will see the
    Analyzing Reference Implementation
window and the remaining time to show the performance projections.
  4. Even if you click on
    Close
, the analysis will run in the background. You can navigate back to this window and click on
    View Performance Projections
    to view the results.
Once analyzing is completed, you will see the window below with performance projections.
  5. Click on
    Done
    to exit.

Step 4: Get Recommendation for supported Reference Implementation

  1. Navigate to
    Reference Implementation Performance
    page, click on
    Proceed
    .
  2. Click on
    Get Recommendation.
  3. If you enable
    Set Inference Frames per second
, the result will be shown with user entered inference frames per second. By default, system IPS will be used for analyzing. Click on
    View Recommendation
    .
  4. In the next screen, you will see the
    Analyzing Reference Implementation
window and the remaining time to show the performance projections.
Once analyzing is completed, you can view the results.
  5. Click on
    Done
    to exit.
