BeingWISE (Women Innovators, Social Leaders and Entrepreneurs) Overview
About BeingWISE
BeingWISE aims to build a consortium of organizations, academia and government to drive women’s advancement and inclusion in the workforce. BeingWISE is aimed at accelerating the participation of women in all aspects of the workforce – technical, non-technical, vendor/supply chain, leadership pipeline and entrepreneurship. Through ecosystem collaborations, metric-based assessment and exchange of best practices, the program would help organizations to achieve their own diversity goals and in turn, develop the ecosystem.
BeingWISE Purpose
Diversity and inclusion (D&I) have been critical imperatives for organizations. Gender equality is not only a prerequisite for a better society, also for a better economy.
McKinsey Global Institute reports that India has one of the largest opportunities in the world to add $770 billion to its annual GDP by 2025 by pursuing gender parity.
There has been considerable progress towards D&I, but it needs acceleration for an exponential impact. According to the Zinnov-Intel Gender Diversity Study 2019, the representation of women in the workforce in India is 30% (26% in technical and 31% in non-technical). The report finds that gender diversity is moderate in the entry level at 38%, but it declines to just 11% at the top level.
The BeingWISE collaborative platform aims to identify challenges faced by organizations in building gender-inclusive work culture, address those gaps and propose time-bound actions.
