Electrical Verification & Optimization

Moore's Law continues on track, and as a result our integrated circuit products today contain hundreds of millions of transistors operating in the multiple gigahertz frequency range. Researchers in the SCL electrical analysis team are primarily focused on addressing the design and analysis challenges arising from the physical effects associated with nanometer process technologies.

Some of the challenges we face include power-performance degradation due to manufacturing and power supply variations, highly resistive interconnects, leakage constraints due to power-limited designs, and circuit models that comprehend deep sub-micron (DSM) effects. While our research is mainly focused on modeling and algorithms, we also investigate CAD software infrastructures to ensure that our work is scalable to large microprocessor designs.

We maintain a strong interaction with advanced product design teams and CAD tool developers who partner with us to mature our technologies into production tool flows and design methodologies. Our team is comprised of industry experts in timing analysis, circuit modeling, RLC (regulatory light chain) extraction, circuit optimization, and power grid verification with a strong publication and patent record.
