Energy-Efficient Performance
Through relentless advancement of energy-efficient technologies that deliver rapid gains in performance, Intel enables increased productivity and inspires new usage models for sustainable computing. In collaboration with private and government organizations, Intel is helping to drive global standards, solutions, and products that ensure the delivery of energy-efficient performance while reducing overall environmental impact.
Reducing global energy use. By 2010, Intel and the Climate Savers Computing Initiative's goal is to reduce computer CO2 emissions by 54 million tons per year, equal to the annual output of 11 million cars or 10–20 coal-fired power plants.
Lowering power consumption. Intel is working with the Green Grid to provide new data center designs that help businesses save money on energy costs while helping to reduce energy consumption around the globe.
Developing more energy-efficient platforms. Developing more energy-efficient platforms. Intel is working with the EPA's ENERGY STAR and Climate Leaders to reduce emissions and increase energy-efficiency in computing.
Incentive-based solutions that impact the bottom line. Intel and select utility companies are collaborating to offer incentives to businesses to help all customers enjoy lower costs and adequate energy supply while reducing environmental impact.
Going lead-free and halogen-free. Future Intel processors will be 100 percent lead free starting with our 45nm microarchitecture representing a transition to more environmentally friendly products. In addition to the transition to lead-free, we’re also moving to halogen-free products in 2008.
Turning data center challenges into opportunities. By working in collaboration with private and government organizations, Intel is helping to accelerate the industry towards optimizing the total power consumed in the data center while reducing overall costs for businesses.
