Intel's investment in the future relies on our own industry-leading microprocessor research, as well as collaborative projects with academic and industry partners. We also support innovation and the advancement of technology through university research grants.

The Microprocessor Technology Labs (MTL) leads research on microprocessor technologies focusing on those technologies that impact products 5 to 10 years in the future to enable Tera-scale computing. Our international research facilities explore all aspects of microprocessors including circuits, architecture and compilers, and platform architectures such as buses, caches, memory, and interconnects.

Researching technology solutions for select component and system hardware challenges especially in areas of Low Power Circuit Technology, High Performance Circuits and High Speed Signaling.
Exploring new directions in microarchitecture research and design to deliver high performance.
Identifying and prototyping advanced compiler technologies and leading-edge software languages to provide enabling technology for emerging system software domains and increasing the rate to innovation.
We work on the next -generation computer architecture to process applications in the future computing environment. Our research includes characterization of emerging workloads, and their impact on future computer architectures.
