Intel® Remote Wake Technology
Demand growing for 24/7 access to home PC
The shift to 'always available' consumer applications and services is broadening as mobility explodes and data centers expand to meet customer expectations. The home PC continues to play a central role for consumers who expect powerful and efficient technologies from Intel to tie home PCs, services and mobile devices together in simple ways to enhance their digital life.
The power challenge
Energy consumption has become a key topic worldwide, and consumer awareness around energy efficient performance is mixed. The problem facing many consumers who want to take advantage of innovative applications and services is whether or not to leave the PC on or turn the PC off. Intel® Remote Wake Technology solves this problem.
Intel Remote Wake Technology overview
Intel Remote Wake Technology is built upon the Intel® Manageability Engine. Consumers can remotely wake up home PCs from 'energy efficient' sleep mode over the internet from an enabled application or service. This unique feature enhances many existing usages such as remote media access, remote downloads, Instant Messaging, and accepting VOIP calls.

Enabled software and applications
CyberLink Live* is a remote media access service that lets consumers enjoy their digital media (including TV) from anywhere. With support for Intel Remote Wake Technology, the home PC remains energy efficient for anytime, anywhere multimedia access.
Orb* is a remote media access service that enables consumers to enjoy all the media on their home PC: music, photos, videos even live TV while they are away. Because Orb streams content over the internet, it eliminates the need to synch their media ahead of time. Intel Remote Wake Technology enhances that experience so Orb users can enjoy whatever they want, whenever they want it, even if they did not leave their home PC turned on.
The home PC is required to be in sleep mode. The home PC's Internet configuration requires a router connected to the PC via an Ethernet cable.
