What is new in each Intel® WiDi software release?

Below is a brief description of some of the new features available in each release of Intel® WiDi technology software. For a detailed description of the features with each release, view the release notes.

Intel® WiDi 4.0.18.0

Feature Description
Interoperability Compatible with the new, 4th generation TV receivers.
Protected Content Added support for playback of protected content via the updated HDCP2.1 standard.

Feature Description
Support for Microsoft Windows* 8 Support added for the Microsoft Windows* 8 operating system.

Intel® WiDi 3.0.13.0

Feature Description
Integrated TV and other CE receivers. Support added for Intel® WiDi receivers built into consumer electronic devices (such as TVs).

Wireless-N Support for Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000
Switchable graphics Switchable graphics interoperability support
802.11n 802.11n support for WPAN network, only on the 2.4GHz band

Intel® WiDi 1.2

Feature Description
Fast cursor Navigate and select/click to open applications or files, control media functions, and navigate the web on the TV screen.
Support 1366 x 768 resolutions In clone mode, the laptop can remain at 1366x768 and Intel® Wireless Display will capture, compress, and transmit 1366x768 over the air.
Note The adapter will scale its HDMI output as negotiated with the TV.
Dynamic wireless status Dynamically monitors the PAN connection status and provides updates on wireless connection.
Prompted firmware update Proactively notifies the user of updates for their adapter.
Extended desktop - remote only The user can toggle between various display modes. With extended desktop you can browse the web on your laptop while watching a video on the TV. Remote only is great for sitting back and watching movies on the TV while the laptop screen goes blank/dark.
Automatic Microsoft* Firewall approval Intel® Wireless Display is automatically added to the approved list of applications in the Microsoft Windows 7* firewall list during install.
Auto minimize application Add an option to automatically minimize application window after establishing a connection.

Intel® WiDi 1.1

Feature Description
Language localization Support for additional languages has been added.
Auto connect Allows you to auto-connect to Netgear* PUSH2TV adapter.
Launch time Reduces the Intel® Wireless Display application launch time.
