What do I need to connect to a WiMAX network?

Your Intel® WiMAX adapter helps connect to a WiMAX network. You will also need a broadband subscription from your Internet service provider (ISP). Contact your ISP for details on subscription and other WiMAX-related questions such as availability, software and hardware requirements, and network limitations.

Information specific to Intel® WiMAX adapters

  • Visit Where do I get WiMAX software updates? for information on the recommended and minimum software versions for various service providers and adapters.
  • Update the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility to the latest version if you are using any of the following products for Wi-Fi connectivity: Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250, Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350, Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 adapter, or Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150.
  • Regulatory restrictions limit use of the Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350 to the United States.
