Installing or Repairing Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX1 Connection Utility
Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility
You may want to download and install the latest available version of the Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility. Perform the following steps to download.
- Gain access to an internet connection. You can use the WiFi or Ethernet port to do this.
- Go to the Intel Download Center Web site.
- At the Downloads site, perform a search for WiMAX.
- Locate the product for your adapter and your operating system.
- Download to a folder on your computer.
Install Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility
- You may need to first download the latest version of the utility. See Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility.
- Browse to the location where the download file was placed on your computer.
- Locate and double-click on the download file. The installer begins and presents the message:
Welcome to the Intel Wireless Installer Prerequisite Wizard.
- Click Next. The next message displays:
Welcome to the Install Shield Wizard to Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software.
- Click Next.
- Read the license agreement. If you accept the agreement terms, click I accept the terms in the license agreement. You can click Print if you want a printed copy of the agreement.
- Click Next.
- Click Next to accept the default install destination folder. Otherwise, click Change to specify a different location. Then click OK and Next.
- The installation may take several minutes. When the installation completes, this message is presented:
Install Shield Wizard Completed! displays. Click Finish.
- You may be asked to reboot the computer. If so, you should reboot your computer now. Click Yes to do so, or No to reboot later.
Repair Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility
In the rare event that your installation of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software becomes corrupted, perform the steps herein to repair it.
For Windows XP* Users:
- Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
- Locate and click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
- Click on Click here for support information.
- At the Support Info window, click Repair. A minute or two may pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When it has completed, close the Support Info window.
- The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.
For Windows Vista* and Windows 7* Users:
- Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Locate and click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
- Above the list of applications, click Repair. A minute or two may pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When it has completed, close the Support Info window.
- The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.
For Windows 8* Users:
- Open Desktop mode
- Select Charms > Settings > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program
- Locate and click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
- Above the list of applications, click Repair. A minute or two may pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When it has completed, close the Support Info window.
- The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.
