Install or Repair Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility

Here are the options for installation and directions for repair.

Automatic installation
Install your wireless driver and software using the automated tool.

Manual installation

For links to the software, download Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility. For information about your hardware, and links to service providers see Update WiMAX connection settings and software.

Installation instructions:

  1. Download Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility.
  2. Browse to the location where the download file was placed on your computer.
  3. Double-click on the download file. The installer begins and presents this message:
    Welcome to the Intel Wireless Installer Prerequisite Wizard.
  4. Click Next. This message displays:
    Welcome to the Install Shield Wizard to Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Read the license agreement. If you accept the agreement terms, click I accept the terms in the license agreement. You can click Print if you want a printed copy of the agreement.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Click Next to accept the default install destination folder. Otherwise, click Change to specify a different location. Then click OK and Next.
  9. The installation can take several minutes. When the installation completes, this message displays:
    Install Shield Wizard Completed! Click Finish.
  10. If asked to reboot your computer, click Yes.


Repair Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility

In the rare event that your installation of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software becomes corrupted, follow the steps for your operating system to repair it.

For Windows XP* Users:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
  3. Select Click here for support information.
  4. At the Support Info window, click Repair. A minute or two can pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When the process is completed, close the Support Info window. The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.

For Windows Vista* and Windows 7* Users:

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
  3. Above the list of applications, click Repair. A minute or two can pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When the process is completed, close the Support Info window. The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.

For Windows 8* Users:

  1. Open Desktop mode
  2. Select Charms > Settings > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program
  3. Click Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software.
  4. Above the list of applications, click Repair. A minute or two can pass as information is gathered and the repair process executes. When the process is completed, close the Support Info window. The Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software should be fully functional.
