Unable to Authenticate When Using CCKM in an Enterprise Environment

Symptom(s):
A client is unable to authenticate to the wireless network when configured for Cisco* Centralized Key Management (CCKM), also known as Fast Secure Roaming, and WPA2-Enterprise authentication in an enterprise environment.

Cause:
The Cisco infrastructure devices are not configured properly to work with Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG and Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connections.

Solution:
There are two types of Cisco network architectures to consider.  The solution is slightly different for each:

  1. Autonomous Access Point (AP): Configure WPA+CCKM authentication and AES as the encryption type.

  2. Lightweight Access Point (LWAP): Configure WPA1+WPA2 and 802.1X+CCKM
Intel® PROSet/Wireless Network Connection Software 10.x Client Configuration Note:
When creating a wireless profile with a security type of WPA2 - Enterprise,the Cisco Compatible Extensions Options include a selection checkbox for Allow Fast Roaming (CCKM).  Ensure this box is checkmarked.

This applies to:
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection
