The Single Sign On (SSO) feature consists of two optional software components that are available through a custom software installation: Single Sign On, which enables the Persistent Connection feature, and Pre-Logon Connect, which enables the Pre-Logon Connect (PLC) feature.

The Persistent Connection feature allows for a wireless LAN connection to the network to remain after a user logs off and also at boot time before the user has logged in. This feature allows for system maintenance of the machine by network administrators in a similar manner to a wired LAN connection. The Persistent Connect feature is available whenever SSO is installed, whether or not the Pre-Logon Connect feature is installed.

The Pre-Logon Connect (PLC) feature adds the ability to establish a wireless LAN connection before completion of the Windows* logon process. This feature allows for processing of user login scripts over the wireless LAN connection in a similar manner to a wired LAN connection.

Profiles using Persistent Connect, Pre-Logon Connect, or both can be configured using the Administrator toolkit software component that is available through a custom software installation. See the User Guide or use Help for directions on configuring profiles.

1. Does SSO replace the Password Sync Capability (PSC) found on earlier versions of Intel PROSet® for Wireless Software?
   Yes.  The PSC feature is now part of SSO and is installed when the Pre-Logon feature of SSO is installed.
   
2. How can I make the use Windows logon credentials check box available?
   To use the use Windows logon credentials option you must install the Pre-Logon feature.
   
3. Can I use a smart card with SSO?
   Yes, if you are using Intel® PROSet/Wireless software versions 10.1 or later.
   
4. Does the Pre-Logon Connect feature replace msgina.dll?
   No, the Pre-Logon Connect feature is inserted in the GINA chain and passes control back to the previously installed GINA after the wireless LAN connection is completed.
   
5. Can I use a certificate for authentication with SSO?
   Yes, if you are using Intel PROSet/Wireless software versions 10.1 or later.
   
6. What credentials can be used to authenticate a persistent connection?
   You have 2 options for authenticating a persistent connection.
   1. If you are using Intel PROSet/Wireless software versions 10.1 or later, you can authenticate a persistent connection using an 802.1x certificate issued to the computer.
   2. You can authenticate with user credentials stored in the persistent connection profile. The user credentials can match any user found in the database used to authenticate users. The administrator might want to create a separate user name with restricted privileges for the purpose of authenticating a persistent connection with stored user credentials.
      
7. Is the Windows welcome screen and fast user switching feature available with Pre-Login Connect?
   No, the Windows welcome screen and fast user switching feature are both incompatible with Pre-Logon Connect. Both of these features will be disabled when installing Pre-Logon Connect.
   
8. What software versions include SSO?
   The SSO feature was first added to Intel® PROSet software starting with version 7.1.3 for the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection and version 8.1 for the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection. Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 9 supports Single Sign On for both the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection and the Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection. Intel PROSet/Wireless software versions 10.1 and 10.5 support Single Sign On for the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, and the Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection. Intel PROSet/Wireless software version 11.x supports Single Sign On for the Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, and the Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG Network Connection.
