Intel® PROSet/Wireless fails to install properly after upgrade to Windows 8*

Issue:
After upgrading to Windows 8*, Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software and Intel® PROSet/Wireless Bluetooth® Software do not install. The driver updates correctly.

This issue occurs on versions 15.5.6 and 15.3.5 when the following are true:

  • Upgrade from Windows 7* to Windows 8
  • Intel PROSet/Wireless Software was installed on Windows 7

Solution:
Install Intel PROSet/Wireless Software again.

Note  The initial install of Intel PROSet/Wireless Software clears the issue, allowing the second installation to install correctly. 

Cause:
After the upgrade to Windows 8 the Bluetooth High-Speed Software is left in a bad state.
