How can I tell if my computer is running Windows* 32-bit or 64-bit OS?

Follow the steps for your operating system to see which version you are running.

Windows 8.1*:

  1. Click Windows Start icon, and start typing This PC.
  2. Right-click This PC from the list that displays, and click Properties. Look under System for System type to see which version you are running.

Windows 8*:

  1. At the Start screen, type Computer.
  2. Right-click Computer, and click Properties.
  3. Look under System for System type to see which version your are running.

For all other Windows* versions:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Right-click Computer, and click Properties.
