Intel® PROSet/Wireless Tools link is not present in the Network and Sharing Center on Microsoft Windows 7*.
Symptom:
- Login to the system after a fresh install of Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiFi Connection Utility.
- Go to the systray wireless' icon and click on Open Network and Sharing Center.
- Intel® PROSet/Wireless Tools link is not present in Network and Sharing Center left links pane.
Cause:
In Microsoft Windows 7, the Control Panel Applets are not cached until the Control Panel is opened for the first time. This is done in order to speed up load time. Intel® PROSet/Wireless Tools is considered a Control Panel Applet, thus it needs to be launched once via the Control Panel for its link to show up in Network and Sharing Center.
Solution:
Going to the Control Panel Home once will make the link available in Network and Sharing Center.
When the tool is opened once via the Control Panel, it'll be cached. The user will then see the link in the Network and Sharing Center on all subsequent attempts.
Steps:
- Select the Start menu
- Click on Control Panel.
- Look for the Intel® PROSet/Wireless Tools link.
