Upgrading drivers and utilities from previous versions

The first time you run the Intel® PROSet Installer, the Installer automatically upgrades installed utilities to version 7.1. For example, if a previous version of Intel PROSet is installed, it is automatically upgraded to version 7.1.

The second time you run the Installer, options, and the ability to uninstall or modify installed components or install new components, are available.

Before installing devices or updating drivers, you must uninstall all devices first. After uninstalling all devices, continue with the installation of the new devices and utilities.

Required service pack for Windows 2000

For the driver and software to function correctly on Windows 2000, you must install Service Pack 3 or later.

Required service pack for Windows XP

For the driver and software to function correctly on Windows XP, you must install Service Pack 1 or later.

Known limitations

Windows XP and Windows 2000 support:
This release supports Windows XP and 2000 only.

Installing multiple VPN clients:
If there are multiple VPN clients installed, this might cause the wireless adapter in the PROSet main window Network tree to not be displayed.

To fix this issue:
Ensure that there is only one VPN client installed. Uninstall all other VPN clients.

Ad Hoc 802.11a is not implemented at the time of this release due to regulatory restrictions and lack of common transmit and receive channels.

Features not includes in this release:
Instant Ad Hoc - The instant ad hoc feature (Start button) is not available in this release. Please disregard references to this feature. Ad Hoc connections can be made using the Profile Wizard - Refer to the online Help for details.

TCP/IP and VPN settings - TCP/IP settings and VPN auto launch are not available in this release. Please disregard references to these feature.

Adapter Switching - The Adapter Switching feature is not available in this release. Please disregard references to this feature.

Ad Hoc Mode 802.11a - Ad hoc mode using 802.11a band is not available in this release.
Note: Ad Hoc mode operates with 802.11b band only.

Using Roaming Identity option with PEAP Authentication:
Since Microsoft* IAS Radius server accepts only valid User names for EAP clients, the real User name must be set when using this Radius server. For any other servers, follow the recommendation as described in the Help information, for example use anonymous@myrealm.
