Intel® Core™2 Processor with Viiv™ Technology
Cannot turn computer off by using the on/off button

Error/Issue
The power button on the Intel® Viiv™ technology-based PC no longer instantly turns the monitor and audio off.

Reason
Possible reasons are:

  • Power button options are not set to “do nothing”
  • Away mode is disabled in the BIOS

Solution
To use this feature, first reset the Intel® Quick Resume Technology Driver defaults.

If that does not fix the problem, try reinstalling the driver.

Note Check with your manufacturer before installing this driver to verify if a customized driver is available.

If the problem is not resolved, contact your computer manufacturer or Intel® Customer Support.

Verified services will vary, and content restrictions may apply. Wireless and network performance varies with specific hardware and software configurations, usage, and environmental interference. Use a wired connection for improved performance with video and other media. May require TV tuner card and/or remote which may be sold separately. Instant on/off feature works after initial boot, when activated.
