Intel® TokenExpress™ Adapter
Driver Installation, IBM - OS/2 v2.1 LAN Requester

This file contains instructions specific for the installation and operation of Intel's TokenExpress(TM) adapter driver. Refer to the appropriate Network Operation System documentation for any NOS-specific questions or other information.

These instructions apply to Release 5.0 of the software.

Installing and Configuring the Intel TokenExpress adapter driver with IBM OS/2 LAN Requester

Installing the IBM OS/2 LAN Requester for the first time using the Intel TokenExpress Adapter.

Follow the instructions in the IBM OS/2 LAN Requester manual to install OS/2 LAN Requester on your workstation.

To install the TokenExpress driver use the "Advanced" installation Method.

  1. Once you have started the IBM OS/2 LAN Requester Installation program and chosen the advanced installation method Select "Install or Configure this Workstation".

  2. Highlight "Configure a Component" and press ENTER.

  3. Highlight "LAN Adapter Driver and Protocol Support". You will copy the network adapters that ship with LAN Requester at this point.

  4. Select "Copy Additional Network Adapter Drivers" and press ENTER.

  5. Type the Path - "javascript:void(null);" and press ENTER.

  6. Insert the Intel TokenExpress adapter Drivers diskette #2 in drive A: and press ENTER. The TokenExpress adapter driver will be copied to the hard drive.

  7. Select "Configure Workstation" and select a Protocol.ini file to use.

  8. Highlight the "Intel TokenExpress EISA/32 Adapter" or "Intel TokenExpress 16/4 Adapter" from the Network Adapters List and press ENTER. Choose the protocol support desired and press OK when done.

    Note: To choose the protocol support desired you will need to refer to your IBM documentation for more detailed information about which protocol(s) you will need.

  9. Select "Configuration Complete". The LAN Adapter and Protocol Support configuration is now complete.

  10. Configure the Requester and complete the installation by following the instructions on the screen.

  11. Highlight "Apply the Changes" to update the config.sys and protocol.ini files.

  12. Reboot your system.

You are now ready to log on to the network.

Replacing an existing adapter with the Intel TokenExpress adapter, IBM OS/2 LAN Requester is already installed.

These instructions assume you have already installed the IBM OS/2 LAN Requester and wish to replace an existing adapter with an Intel TokenExpress adapter.

  1. Click on the "LAN Services" icon on the OS/2 system desktop.

  2. Click on the "OS/2 LAN Services Installation/Configuration" icon.

  3. Select "Advanced" installation.

  4. Select "Install or Configure this workstation".

  5. Select "Configure a Component" and press ENTER.

  6. Highlight "Lan Adapter and Protocol Support" and press CONFIGURE.

  7. Select "Copy Additional Network Adapter Drivers" and press ENTER.

  8. Type the Path - A:\IBM\NDIS.OS2 - and press ENTER.

  9. Insert the Intel TokenExpress adapter Drivers diskette #2 in drive A: and press ENTER. The TokenExpress adapter driver will be copied to the hard drive.

  10. Select "Configure Workstation".

  11. Remove the protocol support and adapter driver for the existing adapter.

  12. Add the "Intel TokenExpress Server MAC Driver" from the Network Drivers list and the protocol support needed. Press OK when done.

    Note: Refer to the IBM OS/2 LAN Requester Installation manual for information about removing and adding LAN adapters and protocol support.

    To choose the protocol support desired you will need to refer to your IBM documentation for more detailed information about which protocol(s) you will need.

  13. Select "Configuration Complete" and press ENTER.

  14. Press OK Components screen.

  15. Highlight "Apply the Changes" to update the config.sys and protocol.ini files.

  16. Reboot your system.
